Prevent Eye Strain: 3 Tips to Take Care of Your Eyes

Did you know that 80% of our perception is attributed to our eyes? Some people tend to take their vision for granted and often forget that their eyes play a significant role in their day-to-day lives. When you take care of your eyes and vision, you take the first step towards caring for yourself in general and leading a healthy lifestyle.

If you think paying attention to your vision health is hard to do, think again. By following a few rules and taking some precautions, your eyes will be healthy for years to come. Vienna Eyecare Center, the leading provider of contact lenses in the region, shares some tips to consider.

Tip #1: Schedule Off-Screen Time

On average, adults spend almost 11 hours a day staring at some screen, whether it be smartphones, tablets, or laptops. It goes without saying that too much screentime can result in damaging effects to our eyes. Set specific schedules to unplug – you’ll be amazed at how much your eyes will relax when you take breaks from your electronic gadgets.

Tip #2: Look For the Right Eyewear

Regular prescription glasses may not be able to fully meet your visual needs for lengthy computer use, especially if you’re working. In cases like this, you may try wearing computer eyeglasses to reduce glare and block blue light coming from your monitor.

Tip #3: Practice the 20-20-20 Technique

This technique helps reduce eye strain and avoid dry eyes by providing them with frequent breaks. After 20 minutes of screentime or doing close-up work, try to look at an object about 20 feet away for 20 seconds. By doing so, your eyes enjoy a much-needed rest numerous times a day.

With these simple tips, you can free yourself from the discomforts brought by eye strain.
