How Often Should You Get a New Pair of Eyeglasses?

Eye doctors usually prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses to people with visual acuity issues. Even if you take good care of your glasses, they would eventually need replacement. To ensure that you are always wearing the right eyewear, visit your eye specialist regularly.

Read on to find out when you know when to get a new pair of eyeglasses.

You Are Having Trouble Seeing

You’ll know your prescription needs updating if you are experiencing blurry vision and vision distortion. Only your eye doctor can determine if there are changes in your vision and recommend an updated prescription. Eye care specialists suggest adults get an eye exam every one to two years. How often you need to visit your eye doctor depends on various factors, such as age and risk of developing eye problems.

Your Glasses Have Damage or Scratches

Scratch lenses may not allow you to see as clearly. They can also cause your vision to look blurry while bent frames may sit improperly on your face. When the scratches on your glasses are starting to affect your vision, it may be best to consult your eye doctor.

You Keep on Squinting to See Clearly

Squinting is a sign that your glasses are not letting you see clearly. When you do it, a tiny, concentrated amount of light enters your eye, resulting in improved vision. While squinting will not harm your vision, it is a strong indication that you need to upgrade your prescription glasses.

You Are Getting Headaches

When your prescription is outdated, your eyes and brain need to work harder, which can strain your eye muscles. As a result, you will experience headaches and eye strain. It may be a sign that you need to see your eye doctor if you keep on getting headaches.
