6 Ways to Love Your Eyes

Our eyes are one of the most important organs in our body. And as with the rest of your body, they need to be taken care of to ensure they stay healthy and strong. Here are some tips on how you can love your eyes from Vienna Eyecare Center!

1. Schedule Regular Eye Exams

A regular eye exam is key to maintaining good vision health. During the exam, your optometrist will check for any signs of developing eye conditions and assess your eyes’ overall health. Scheduling it every one to two years or depending on your age and risk factors for certain diseases would be ideal.

2. Wear Protective Eyewear

It is vital to wear protective eyewear when engaging in activities that pose injury risks to your eyes. Use the right eyewear when working on jobs that involve chemicals and dust, or playing sports. You must also wear sunglasses when you’re outside to protect your eyes from the sun’s UV radiation.

3. Follow Healthy Habits

Certain habits are essential for maintaining good vision health. Getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water and avoiding smoking or secondhand smoke are some examples. It also helps to limit your screen time, as staring at screens can cause eye strain and dryness in the eyes.

4. Schedule Time for Relaxation

Taking a break from your daily routine can help reduce eye strain and provide much-needed rest for the eyes, especially if you wear contact lenses. Consider going on a nature walk or reading a book.

5. Eat Foods Rich in Antioxidants

Eating foods rich in antioxidants can help keep your eyes healthy. Antioxidants are substances that protect the cells in our bodies from damage caused by free radicals. Examples of antioxidant-rich foods include leafy greens, nuts and berries.

6. Manage Your Stress

Stress can take a toll on your overall health, including your eyes. Learning how to manage stress is essential for maintaining good vision. Some techniques to help manage stress include exercise, yoga and meditation, journaling and spending time with family and friends.
