4 Things You Need to Know About MiBoFlo Thermoflo®

Vienna Eyecare Center is committed to helping you experience better visual health and comfort through high-quality eye care services. This is why we always stay updated on the latest technologies for managing different eye problems. Our MiBoFlo Thermoflo®, in particular, is an innovative tool for relieving dry eye syndrome. Read on as your trusted provider of premier eyeglasses shares four important facts about this treatment option.

1. MiBoFlo Is an Effective Way to Manage Dry Eye Disease

Your eyelids are lined with meibomian glands that are responsible for the constant production of tears in your eyes. This process keeps your eyes moisturized and maintains your visual comfort. Any changes to your tear quality or blockages to these tear ducts may result in dry eye syndrome.

2. MiBoFlo Takes Advantage of Heat

Upon confirming you have dry eyes during your comprehensive eye exam, we may include MiBoFlo as part of your treatment. The MiBoFlo therapy uses thermoelectric radiation to treat dry eyes, especially if you have had this problem for a long time. This device produces a therapeutic temperature of 108 degrees that helps liquefy viscous or dried-up tears. The heat also stimulates your meibomian glands to produce more tears.

3. MiBoFlo Is a Painless Procedure

We may ask you to close your eyes as we apply ultrasound gel on the MiBoFlo eye pads. You may feel a slight pressure as we massage the eye pads on your eyelids. A session usually involves a minimum of eight minutes per eye. For optimum results, we will ask you to remove your contact lenses and eye makeup before the therapy.

4. MiBoFlo Is a Safe Alternative to Other Dry Eye Treatments

Studies show that MiBoFlo is an effective way to manage meibomian gland dysfunction and other desiccating or ocular surface conditions. It’s also a safe and less invasive option than alternatives to treat these eye problems. It carries a lower risk of causing corneal distortions as well, which is a common complication with other eyelid therapies.
